Academic qualifications

Essential:


• Bachelor’s degree i.e. Transport/logistics management


Advantageous:


• Relevant business management qualification would be an added advantage

Work experience

Essential:


• At least 8 years in a senior management role in Transport operational environment

• Exposure in trucking & the following transport sectors:

o Energy/Chemical/Hazardous cargo

o Freight

o Abnormal transport

o Cross Border transport operations

• Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen

• Proven track record of strategic customer relations management

• Experience in presenting and negotiating at Senior Management and Board levels


Knowledge

Essential:


• Extensive knowledge of the industry (i.e. Energy, Chemicals, Freight, Abnormal Transport)

• Operational knowledge of transport, hazardous cargo, cross-border transport operations

• Sound understanding of business, transport related legislation

• Broad understanding of labour legislation and Bargaining Council agreements

• Well versed in all managerial functions including Operations, HR, Financial, SHEQ, Risk and Governance

• Knowledge of the transport sector governing legislation


Skills

Essential:


• Highly developed communication skills to persuade, influence and negotiate

• Highly developed leadership, interpersonal skills and EQ for networking, including sensitivity to diversity and conflict resolution skills

• Strong ability to interpret numerical information

• Strong ability to take profit and loss accountability

• Critical thinking skills to analyses and diagnose requirements, develop solutions and solve relatively complex problems

• Ability to effectively document facts, chart information visually and write reports

• Ability to multi-task to lead, direct and guide multiple engagements under tight deadlines, as well as to ensure attention to multiple priorities - implement multiple projects while maintaining focus and depth in key delivery and performance areas.

• Proficiency in Excel and Power Point, including superior spreadsheet modelling expertise, automation and protection of models
