About Your Role


Thales Australia Mulwala facility is a chemical manufacturing plant, producing chemicals, propellant and explosives for Defence and commercial sales. The Laboratory at Mulwala is responsible for the quality control and testing of the propellant and high explosives produced at the site.


The Laboratory Technical Assistant is responsible for performing routine testing and analysis on raw materials and products to the required specifications. You will be required to multi task, having the ability to undertake several analyses at the same time. This is a Part-time role (9 days


a fortnight)

Identifying sample types and preparing for testing.


Carrying out routine analysis and testing.


Prepare standard solutions; perform routine calibrations and standardizations.


Record raw data and results to NATA standards.


Maintain records and inventories of chemicals, glassware etc


Maintain records and store Laboratory reference samples.


Use the Laboratory computer system for data entry and retrieval.


Maintain adequate supply of clean and dry sample containers for facility use.


How About You?


Minimum year 12 in Chemistry or equivalent.


Laboratory calibrations and standardisation procedures.


Laboratory quality control techniques.


Experience in a chemical laboratory environment


Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and E-mail


Operates under direct supervision of Technical Officer, but is responsible for ensuring quality of own work.
