Your Role


As the Guidance officer, your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

Actively participate in Senior Leadership Team meetings and associated professional development programs to assist in the school improvement agenda e.g. Positive Behaviour for Learning, Student Code of Conduct

Be willing to travel to remote areas of Far North Queensland for extended periods of time to deliver guidance officer services to students, home tutors or partner schools

Provide services to secondary students in a multi-modal (online and face-to-face) setting.


Applicants who are from State Schools must have the permission of their supervising principal before applying as release


from the school will require their Principal's authorisation.

Mandatory requirement of this role is:

Current full registration as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available at (url removed)


Teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services. For more information please CLICK HERE.


AND one of the following:

Completed coursework Masters, majoring in guidance and counselling, or an equivalent completed coursework Masters including study in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, counselling and mental health. OR

General or provisional registration as a psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board. OR

An Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four or five year qualification in psychology that will enable general registration as a psychologist following completion of a board approved internship or accredited sequence of study.


Highly desirable:

A minimum of two (2) years full-time, or equivalent, teaching experience

Current membership of the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association (QGCA).
